Element Communications Wins Brief to Launch Cennox Retail Device to Neutralise COVID-19 at Retail Checkouts

Cennox, the UK’s largest independent ATM business, has selected Element Communications, the experts in authentic communications for ambitious brands, to launch a pioneering new product to the retail market.

As global leaders in transforming bank branches and in-store retail environments, Cennox has developed its POS UVC device to neutralise COVID-19 at in-store payment terminals after each transaction.

The Element team will be delivering media relations, social media campaigns and content marketing as part of an integrated strategy.

Cennox’s Director of Marketing Stuart Dowling said: “This is a critical time for retailers transforming their stores to ensure they reopen safely and protect shoppers as lockdown measures ease.  After designing and developing an innovative product in less than two months, we looked for an ambitious PR partner to launch the product to market.

“We were impressed with the passion, energy and experience of the Element team. We have a proud history of innovation and needed a dynamic partner that would thrive in partnership with our fast-paced business.”

The innovative system uses Ultraviolet C (UVC) light to attack and neutralise surface clinging viruses present on Chip & PIN devices in less than 30 seconds. It is expected to replace bleach and alcohol wipes to clean payment terminals, which can take as much as ten minutes to become effective.

As retailers adapt to the ‘new normal’ Cennox’s device is intended to keep shoppers safe, with limited impact on the in-store experience.

Element Communications’ Managing Director Tom Webb added: “Cennox is exactly the kind of firm we love to work with. It is one thing to talk about innovation, but to have the agility to develop leading, market-ready products in such a short space of time shows what a dynamic organisation Cennox is.

“The campaign that we are launching is to give retailers and shoppers confidence at an incredibly important time, both economically and socially, and we are delighted to be working with the Cennox team to bring innovative solutions to market. With our experience representing likeminded companies, we are confident this will be a hugely successful partnership.”
